I have a pair of ECM8000s as OHs right now but i want to take a step up. I have a chance to buy 2 AT4033's at 200 dollars a piece and that looks like a good deal considering they are about 300 dollars a piece NEW. I want to get at least one 4033 to use on vocals and for various other applications, amp micing, acoustic guitar, etc. I was considering buying the 4033's and using them as Overheads, along with the other things i mentioned. But...i was also thinking, that for 200 dollars i could buy 2 MK012's and use them as Overheads and then i could buy one 4033 and use that as a room mic, and still be able to use for vocals and guitars. What will the differences in sound be with the 4033s as OH's as compared to the MK012's. Which do you think would be the better deal. Any help anyone can give me would be awesome. Thanks a lot.

Either one will do just fine.

If it were me, I'd just go with the oktavas as overheads, since a pair of those won't set you back nearly as much as a pair of AT 4033s, and will sound just as good . . . maybe even better (matter of taste).

The 4033 will make a good vocal / electric guitar mic, as well, and the mk012's will sound killer on accoustic guitar.

with the pair of 012's for $200 and a 4033 for $200, you are looking at $400.....

for that or little more, you can get a pair of Marshall MXL603's, a Marshall MXLv67, and a Marshall MXLv93M.......
