Good evening all
My banjo player & myself have taken on the duties of our 4 piece band's audio
reinforcement live sound & home recording, banjo, guitar, mandolin,& stand-up
4 part harmony vocals, we perform live around a single AT 3035,small 200 watt
PA, for our PC recording we have the AT 3035, several highball, & pencil condensers, & a new Sterling large diaphragm condenser, a Dell PC with an average but adequate sound card and a Tascam 144 interface
Looking for advice on getting started, our goal is to capture our energy, & proficiency as a live band to send demo recordings to local venues for jobs (& also because we love to play for any reason) we have a site & you tube videos
bluegrass409.com
looking for advice like proximity to mics, mixing suggestions any rudiment starting points
thank you for your time

Welcome to you. This is a good place for it.
Plenty of acoustic' folks around here as well as electric. I do a bit of both- a rag tag of bluegrass/country/dead on the ac' side. :D
Nice site btw.

All I'd start with is suggesting setting up a nice sounding room as far as having a balance of adsorption and a bit of control where it's needed to track in. That alone opens up options and makes things easier.
Proximity?- letting in more room' on some elements to contrast with up front' and drier focuses. ;)

thank you for the response, glad you liked our site, like most bluegrass guys we won't be quiting our day jobs
We would like however to escilate the number of paid gigs we do over the coarse of the year & feel a solid 4 or 5 song demo that can be sent out with our promo package will be a valuable asset
We will welcome with great appreciation the advice of the members of this forum
thank you
Fred
