I have a Shure SM10a headset mic that I use for live performing.

This mic requires significantly more gain increase on the mixing console than does my PG58 models. Our PA head runs the level controls for the PG58 at 3 (out of 10), where the headset mic has to run the gain all the way up at 10.

-65dB sensitivity for the SM10a
-54dB sensitivity for the PG58

My question: is there a pre-preamplifier I can use with the balanced SM10a that will provide 12dB gain, but still put out a MIC level output?

Another one to check out would be the Studio Projects VTB-1.
You can run it "clean" or you can use the "tube blend" as an
effect. It also has a XLR input and output, and is built like a
tank.
The increase in sound quality from lesser priced mic pre's is more than worth the $ difference IMHO.
The website is www.studioprojectsusa.com for more info.

At www.bpmmusic.com they had a deal where you get free 2 Day
Air shipping included in the $180 cost.

Best of luck on your selection,
Chris

Both of these appear to be Mic-to-Line level preamps.

I need a Mic-To-Mic level preamp. My Shure headset mic needs an additional 12dB, or 0.45mV to 2.2mV to match my Shure PG58 mic outputs.

I need a Mic-To-Mic level preamp.
No such thing.

Maybe your mic is broken. The only thing you can do is get a preamp with a whole hell of a lot of gain.

1. The ART Tube MP is a mic preamp
2. It provides up to 70dB of gain

Are you sure your mic isn't broke?

Yes, I'm sure my mic is not broken.

As per my original post, there is 11dB difference between output voltages. My headset mic is spec'ed at 0.45mV and the PG58 is 2.2mV.

The Behringer DSP110 seems to be what I'm looking for.
