My SM58 started to sound distorted !

Strangly, my Shure SM58 mic sounds distorted ! I tried different cables and connected it to two different mixer both with the same results.

(don't tell me to check the mixer settings... it's the mic)

What could be wrong woth it ?

if you are sure it is the mic, it is probably the capsule. 58s are ALMOST indestructable, but some do die. try un-screwing the wind screen and see if there is anything on the diaphragm like dust etc. DONT TOUCH THE DIAPHRAGM! be careful. and good luck!

This is strange... I had some recordings today,
when I tried to mic my classical guitar I got a distorted sound, but when micing my Twin Reveb amp playing my strat the sound was fine (same great sound I always get when recording my electrics)
