:D ...naw she aint dead yet lol! I really hope that dosen't come back to haunt me hehe! Only song I've written with a date behind it...new years morning 1998. Had a dream of my wife passing and coming back to visit me that night:eek: . Need to know if the vocals and lead are to up-front? And if the vocals are to wet or to dry? And if the verb I used was crap sounding? There's timing issues all over it, and this tune is acoustic's vocals and bass..that's it. Thanks.

song is "Always there" http://www.nowhereradio.com/david/singles

Guitars sound good......so does the vox......nice chording, I like that walk down fingerpicking thing...ooooh nice chord change between the verses....'verb sounds nice to me; it doesn't sound 'wet' at all to me...if anything it's a little dry....but the "verb nazis will be along to tell me I'm wrong, I guess I just like 'verb.
It's a nice song David....I'd like to hear a little harmony during the chorus...and some kind of accessory percussion might be nice...not drums, just some congas or something. Nice work!

Nice acoustic playing/recording. You can play. What was your recording setup?

I like the minor-four change (Cmaj to Cminor with the song in G) and I use it whenever I can....thief!!:D :D :D It always Beatle-izes things to me.

I agree the vocal could come back a tad (not too much), but your voice suits the song. Nice job.

You Get A Folder

All right David - You have a folder on my hard drive now. There are only 3 songs in it, this one being the 3rd. I don't know if it's got too much 'verb or anything, but I know that I like it, and nothing jumps out as being "wrong."

You're a talented S.O.B. - Do you gig any?

Please fill up this folder as quickly as possible.

David - Help me out here. You sound like somebody (voice), and it's driving me crazy. It may be that you sound like the singer in a band called "The Grand Street Cryers," which nobody has ever heard of...but I'm thinking it's somebody a little less obscure. Anyway, have others told you you sound like somebody else?

:D

wow

This is really cool man... I like the way you combine the old folky style with that new-ish alternative-ish thing. Very sweet. You know who'd go ape poo over this? WATYF...

Finger picking, then the open chord strums... nice.

Inspiring, actually. Makes me want to write an acoustic thing :)

A D/L that will stay on my harddrive too.

thanks guy's!

Lt. Bob..Thanks for listening to my humble tune. My oldest daughter (21) will be in from college this weekend and has promised me for three weeks she will do some B/up's on this, now unlike her pop, that girl can naturaly born sing her ass off. So we'll see. Thank you Lt.!!

ChuckU.. Now I aint no thief! Lol, I just borrow...stuff:D . Thanks man! The recording setup was, martin d35..at40/50 mic on vocals also, and a ric bass (4003). All through an art dual pre to adats. Mackie board, Lynxone sound card. Applied waves C4 compressor..opto Mastering preset...and that's it I think? Thanks guy! oh yeah, I was thinking the vox might of been a tad high too. I'll see if anyone else will notice..Thanks again.

chrisharris...Man have I told you I love you today?:D Good God man, hey you already gotta folder on my hard drive. I'll try and answer both of your post's here. First off I'm not really that talented..but thank you. Been gigging on and off for 23 years, and just quit my last band about a month ago. I dont know who I sound like:confused: , The guy in Black Crows is all I ever hear lol...somebody shoot me! Thanks Chris, I can't wait till I get your CD man I'm a big fan of your's!

participant... Chad thanks a bunch bro, I love the stuff your doing here..keep-um coming! Now go write that "new tune" you got wondering around up there, and let us hear it! Thanks!

great acoustic intro........i love it.......i might turn down the lead part just a touch down, because it seems to drown the main part just a touch...........great acoustic sounds, great song, great singing.........nice work

powderfinger...I'll bring that lead back a hair or two, i think your right. Thanks man.

Gidge... , why you gone play me like that bro?:D ...it's embarrasing enough to just post a song once in a while. i probably couldn't kick yer ass, but i'm going by and pick up the Lt. do you really want that? Thanks man...I think:D

Jamal...Mr. Big? I only can remember the gtr player in that band, "Paul Gilbert"? I think. Hey i'm no "sound guy" either, and that's all I have to offer in this clinic...I hope I don't get banned for that lol! Thanks bro...I'll catch your new tune tonight, gotta go to work:(

nice acoustic playing and sound.. pretty clean man..

great thread title! :p

Although if I was married, I wouldn't have titled it this way!

Very clean recording. Nice interesting guitar parts. Good playing as well.

Some of the vocals get a little tough to hear in a couple spots.

This is great David!

Nice singing, interesting chord changes. Has an unplugged quality to it, which is always nice.

Cool.

B. Sabbath...thanks for checking it out man. Hell i've been married to that sow for twenty three yrs...it's fukin time she was dead:D ...I'm just kidding man..or am I? Thanks bro.

TripleM...Thanks dude, Yeah i should of rode that fader a little more...I think it's some what loud in other parts too. Thanks!

Pete

David,

To address your ?'s about verb and such, I think you've nailed everything. I was liking the tune from the first run.......nice changes and vox and picking and strumming and.......oh shit, I just plain ol' liked it.

Sometimes, I feel like I should shut up and stop. I won't but, you've a very good thing going on.

Peace,
theron.

P.S.

Very magnetic and MISSLEADING thread title "my dead wife". I think, in all fairness, that you should rename the song to reflect your thread title. I'm sure your wife will understand:D

Sounds good. I would maybe add just a touch of room reverb to the vocals. Just enough that you can't really hear it but it will help thicken up the vocal slightly and give it a little more of a natural decay. Great performance. Some percussion would be cool.

Pete...Hey thanks for all the kind words man. "Pro recording"? haha, if you could see my little set-up, by no means pro. Thanks bro!

theron...Thanks for taking the time to listen man. Glad you liked it! Yeah:D , I don't think my wife would understand...she really "hates" this song, along with every other tune she's heard me do:( . Thanks my man!

Tex...Thanks! Man I wished I had some good sounding natural room reverb, all i have for the moment is sheetrock and carpet floors. Percussion would be nice also..but I might have to re-track, I think...well i know there's a lot of timeing issues all thru it. Thanks Tex!
