All you have is now
Holy shit! Where's the toilet paper? :wtf:

The grinding wheel is coming to a stop...:(

Jump off the train before it crashes ...:cursing:

Fly low and avoid the radar :drunk:

All I knows is all I knows and I knows we just don't know what we don't know..

What a world! What a world! ~

Be safe my crazy brothers!

Did the Corona virus get you? We need hazmat suits.

Is it time to head for the high ground? Did somebody push too far? Duck and cover, duck and cover!

We lose our "humanity" so quickly. Just a rumor of an issue turns us into out uncivilized versions.

This is almost what the supermarkets looked like this weekend. Not quite that wild...but they were packed, and people were filling their shopping carts to the top with anything that could be of value for a long lockdown. The hottest items was toilet paper and other paper products...gone from shelves for about a week now.
Canned goods were getting low and so were many dry goods...but I also saw people with 3-4 gallons of milk and dozens of eggs loaded up. Bottled water was all gone too...not sure why, it's though people were expected the water in their faucets would stop running because of the virus...?

I guess when panic sets it...logic goes, and people behave somewhat irrationally and without any plan. Right now, the fear and panic is having a worse toll on life much more than the virus is. Multiple places are closing down...many clubs, restaurants, and other places where crowd gatherings might normally occur. All types of entertainment events are being cancelled...and it looks like everyone is bunkering in until there is some change.

I see the government is trying to pass some type of paid extended sick leave for everyone...though I'm not sure how that's supposed to work. I mean, how can an employer pay all his employees extended sick leave, while at the same time closing down his business...???
Some employers have simply laid off their workforce, and I think the government is gearing up for paying out unemployment to those folks...but then, who wants to go stand in line at the unemployment office when they are telling everyone to stay home...?

I know there is a serious concern over the spread of this virus...but I do think that there is also a good amount of overreaction that is driving the panic. Yes, there needs to be a ways to prevent the spread, but I think in the end, it's really going to come down to the virus itself, and simply letting it play itself out.
There really is nothing much that medicine can do to cure it or prevent it at this point...only to try and control the spread, but without some kind of martial law and a complete lockdown nationwide...I don't think the spread will be fully contained anywhere, so it will come down to some areas and some people getting a bad dose, and others maybe not so much. Maybe only mother nature can have some impact with some early warm weather. Where's that climate change when you really need it.

Being a comfortable homebody...I can stay in for a couple of months and not go stir crazy, especially these days, since I've still got a lot of work with my new studio build and all kinds of other work yet to finish around the house...I just hope I can get the contractor stuff done, before they all decide not to work for awhile...but for them, there is no paid sick leave...they generally need to be on the job to get paid. That said, I should be done with my contractors this week for the most part...so the rest will be on me, so I have plenty to keep me busy while this virus stuff runs its course.

I bought a six pac of the stuff the other day. Just kind of a one finger salute to the whole mess.

I was into Corona for a short while...and the whole lime in the bottle thing...it was the "hip" way to drink a Corona.
Then I realized how much better it tasted without the fruit...
...but then not long after, Corona just didn't taste all that great compared to a nice Boston lager, like a Sam Adams, which is my favorite...but I also like some of the Belgian ale, like Stella, which has a sweeter taste and sometimes goes better with some things than Sam Adams.

I dunno...after those two, I couldn't get back into Corona anymore...they spoiled me. :)

Of course...it's all a matter of personal taste, so drink what you prefer. :thumbs up:
People rave about Coors...but to me, it's like beer flavored water.

Like this line from one of my fave James Bond flicks. '..Oh and bartender, keep the fruit' :>)
Hell I don't even drink beer anymore (type II diabetes..
I look at this one as taking one for the team.

Don't got'a gig, but got Rye whiskey :guitar:

I like the belgian wheat beers myself. I like the stella and the blue moon the best.

Someone asked if I was worried about the corona virus. I said no, I drink Tecate. They didn’t get it. ;)

Seriously, I’m more concerned with the panic and the government’s response than the affliction.

Oh I agree...the fear and panic are having a worse impact on life and the economy than the virus itself.

AFA the government...I mean really, there's not much they can do to change the spread of the virus. No other government has been too successful, so I don't know what people expect...but then we are living in a new society that expects government to protect us and save us form everything. :D
Bottom line...stay home if you can...and if you go out...wash your hands, don't touch your face...etc...lots of common sense.

Oh, they can - but it might already be too late. This could go on for 8 weeks.
I only see shutdown news from the northeast, but the state governors are slow to issue any shutdowns, New York and Massachusetts being the first ones, New Hampshire schools only are closed. Banning gatherings of xxx people is not practical, who's counting?

The local grocery stores were cleaned out this weekend. Lots of empty shelves. I'm working from home until further notice, lucky I have that option, but the open mic I host every other week is off the table, for at least the next 2 events. Gigs I have for next month will probably get cancelled - if the bars/restaurants don't have customers, they can't afford to pay the entertainers.

Its not just the northeast that's restricing gatherings, but its a start. Our schools are closed, concerts and performances have beeen cancelled, and the local music venues are closed. RIght now they are considering whether the Ky Derby will be held. That is a HUGE event around here. The festival events are being cancelled or postponed, starting with the marathon, parade, concerts, and maybe one of the largest fireworks shows in the world (usually 400-500,000 attend).

We just found out that a fellow locally was feeling bad a couple of weeks ago. He has since tested postitive for Covid19. What did he do when he first started feeling bad? Went to the casino several days, and a high school basketball game and wrestling match! Then we found out that someone tested positive who had just attended an event at a local museum. At that event were the governor of Ky, the mayor of Louisville, the congressional representative, a senator, and the president of the university, among others. They are all going into quarantine awaiting test results.

I expect cases to jump locally. The people who frequent the casinos are primarily older, and those are the primary folks at risk.

As for myself, I'll try to get out to the golf course... not much intimate contact there, except for the high 5s for a birdie. I'm definitely safe!

Yeah...but the only thing they can do is to force a complete lockdown. There is nothing much else they can do that will actually prevent the virus from spreading...yet people are demanding that government do something.

I mean...if people are that freaked out...they don't need to government to tell them not to go out...just don't go out...
...but that's the thing, people will not be able to all do that. It's one thing to stay home for a few days during a bad winter storm...but to be in a lockdown mode for 6-8 weeks...how many folks are prepared for that?

So when they run out of food or whatever...there won't be any parcels getting dropped into backyards by parachute...the government is not able to supply the entire country with groceries and necessities.

I just think so many are naïve about what government can really do for them...or expect from the government.

The shutdowns may help to slow the spread...but that doesn't mean the virus will pack up and leave just because we all sit home for a few weeks.
AFA any cures or vaccines...I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on them.

But then...here's the thing...most people will at worst, experience a week or two of flu-like illness...and then they are over it.
Sure, the elderly and those with existing health issues and compromised immune systems are at higher risk for death...but then, there are probably countless other illnesses that can also kill those people, and we don't all freak out about them
I'm not trying to be unsympathetic to those at higher risk...just saying that they are always at higher risk, not just from COVID-19.

I just feel like we went from "huh?" to over-the-top panic in a matter of days...and I wonder what would ever happen if the world was faced with a more serious issue of some sort. I think it would be pretty insane and scary. The more civilized we've become...the less we are able to cope with things that upset our daily lives and routines.

Well...I can probably stay home for six months without a problem...but it would be tough watching society crumble.

same what Im hearing, the fear is for old people and those with respiratory issues it could be fatal.
I gave up on media and just go direct to the CDC site. They don't know if it will slow down as usual, when warm weather comes.
The hospitals overload, the business's lay people off temporarily...bars and restaurants, live events cancelled a lot of "paycheck to paycheck" working poor will get hit hardest as usual. The welfare checks will still come and the rich don't have to worry as usual.

The panic part of Grocery stores being emptied is pretty bizarre, the Toilet Paper craze and Spaghetti sauce was empty? I got a laugh from the Toilet Paper frenzy and Spaghetti sauce shelves emptied...but then a few days later many more shelves are empty, meats, canned goods, frozen pizzas?

As long as the factory workers keep going to work and drivers are driving, the Toilet Paper Crisis will hopefully calm down.

I did the CDC recommended and stocked up for a bad case of the Flu is all.
Ive a gallon of whiskey and would enjoy a paid sick time off for a week or two!! hell yeah!
Where I work they are shutting down nearly everything and people who can work from home are already gone. So no one is losing their income yet.

One friend was speaking of the struggling restaurants and bars going bankrupt if it doesn't get better fast.

The Austin Texas South by Southwest music fest was cancelled, the radio dude was saying its several hundred millions lost. I had no idea it was that big of a cash income event. And he mentioned "no refunds" are being granted for tickets, and I would assume the same for flights, hotels etc.

Seems like a good plan to me! Not sure if I can sell the wife on it but I'm gonna try...:guitar:
