I am building a studio and need to have multiple talent monitor through headphones while doing voice overs. Is there a device that allows this to happen where I can run it from the mixer? How much will this cost? I am looking for something that can handle at least 5 headphones. Any ideas? I also want to be able to speak to these people from the control room to their headphones. Thanx.

Yep ... here's a couple

Furman HA-6 - $320

Rolls HA43 - $70

I use a cheapo 5 channel StudioModule headphone amp(made by Crate, I think). I think it was around $50 but can't find a link to it.

To run it from the mixer, you need to set up remote headphone jacks in the studio room that are powered by this headphone amp.

Good luck!

(for some reason the link for the Furman wouldn't work so it's ugly)

like the bigkahuna said , youll need some leads in your studio.. Im using the behringer powerplay pro.. a four channel headphone amp which has outs for twelve headphones , three per channel. Because im using a set of busses for the headphone amp , im able to just route the talkback mic channel to the two busses , thus them being able to hear me .. Another good thing about this headphone amp is each of the 4 channels has an aux in so u can really customise the musos monitor mix ... probly not neccesary for voice talent.. It retails for about $499 AUS , whats that , about $250 US ... with the shape of our dollar right now , probly even less... but its a great amp , and will do the trick for me till i really expand the studio... but definetly check it out , try picking up a second hand one even if its a little expensive.. hope it helps
