I've got a pair of Event PS5's and they have a canned sound. Is this normal for monitors? They sound very canney around the upper 100's and lower 1K's.

Is it ok to eq to get a more natural soound.

Thanks

Are you speaker leads ok (in phase ?)?

Don't ever use eq on the monitors, it'll distort your view on what you're recording.

What exactly do you mean by a "canned" sound? Also, did they sound like that either in the store when you auditioned them, or when you first got them home?

EQ on monitors is NOT wise...

They do not sound very smooth or transparent. Also, my mixes do not turn out what I'm hearing. the vocals tend to be to loud and the reverb is aways to much. What is a good pair of monitors that preform well for under $500.00 for the pair?

Unless your monitors are defective, it's not your monitors. The Event PS-series are actually very smooth-sounding monitors... sometimes, too smooth!

They're workable and usable monitors....... you shouldn't be having the problems you're describing with them though...
