Is placing your mixing desk and monitors at your window....good? bad? and why?

Good, because I can see where the crappy sound is coming from lol.

From a more professional standpoint, it's bad because the windows reflect the high frequencies early since the'yre so close, and this increases early reflections which make your sound less accurate since the human ear can't distinguish two sounds as different sources if they are less that 20ms apart (Early reflections are less). This is why most studios either have there mixing desk a bit of a distance from the front studio window, or have foam against the front wall if the desk is in front of it. But none if this is really going to make a difference if the rest of your room is acoustically dysfunctional. :)

A window directly in front of you is not bad, or a source of early reflections, because your speakers are pointing the other way. However, reflection points on the side walls and ceiling can damage imaging, and those should be treated.
