Micing tips on various percssion instrument

Once again I need the help of my trusty Home Rec'r buddies. I have a session this thursday and i'm goin to be working on some flamenco tracks. I need to know the best ways to mic the following percussion instruments:

Rainstick
Chimes
Shakers
Vibraslap
Guiro
Bongos
Ude
Hand Claps

I only have the following mics in my arsenal:
2- Mc o12
1- SM57
1- D112
1- SP C1

I would like to get a cool stereo effect on the Rainstick and the chimes.
I have done a search on this already and I couldn't find much

My Advice

I work with percussion all the time, my preference for small hand percusion and bongo / conga set ups is a pair ofsmall to mid diaphram mics set up as a spaced pair overhead about 5.5 to 6 feet up in the air. Your MC012s will work beautifully for that.

I would work with spacing about 3-4 feet apart and go from there.
Also, just a tip....Although some percussion sounds great in stereo , some things like tamborines /claves dont often work well drifting back and forth between the sound fields, if you have a lot of percussion going into one song resis the temptation to have everything drifting back and forth, but as always use your own ears to decide.

On bongos I like to use a single mic positioned between the embra(large) and macho (small) drums, and about one foot above the drums. I've had good results with both small and large diaphram condensers, I have settled on using an AT 4033 (medium diaphram) for my bongos. I would suggest trying the MC012 first with your mic selection.

If you need a brighter sound, try recording in a "lively" sounding room with lots of reflections.
