Hello all. Im fairly new to home recording so im looking for a few suggestions. Looking to buy a decent mic around $100 to $200 to record my guitar. Thx in advance for all resposes.

a shure sm-57 is about $75 or so. that is the one you want.

What kind of recordings? Is is for electric and/or acoustic guitar?
More information along those lines will give you additional helpful
input. You may want to consider getting TWO microphones for around
$200 total for additional recording flexiblity.

P.S. Welcome to the BBS! :)

For stereo acoustic guitar I use one Marshall MXL 603s ($80 ) at the neck and one Behringer ECM8000 ($40) at the bridge. Very nice.

Yeah, what they said. If you really got 200 to spend, you should get all three of them. The 57 will also make a good mic for snare drums, and even toms, vocals and whatever else. The ecm8000 is a wonderful mic for room, OH or hihat recording. I didn't myself use the 603 yet, but it should be your best bet for recording acoustic guitar mono, or for doing your vocals.

also try the octavia mc o12 on acoustic. it also can be used for hverheads too. i would go with 1 sm 57( great for rock guitar)
and a second mic. $200 will get you 2 mics. for even more options go with what ness said and get all 3!
