Hi there! I just bought the Tascam US-224 and have been doing some recording. I am currently using a Senheiser e815s and get a decent sound. I'm looking into a studio condenser microphone. I've actually been looking at ebay and are interested in these two -

because they can be powered by battery as I do not have Phantom Power.

I'm not opposed to buying a power supply, and eventually a pre-amp (although I would have no idea what pre-amp to get). But, I would also like to use the mic for live choral singing - if that is feasible.

I really know nothing about Microphones, so I just need to know if getting a new mic will really make that much difference, and if so, what would any of you recommend and where to purchase. My budget is the more under $100 the better.

I have no idea about the MCA, but the 1006 is pretty damn good. The price, however, is pretty damn bad :D .
You can get one at Musician's Friend for 50$ or so (under the name V63 or V57. same mic). If you think these two extra dynamics are worth 50$, go for it, but do you really have any use for them?

I suggest saving for a Studio Projects C1 or much better a C3.

Or how about Shure SM57? It will always be worth what you pay for it.

Humm, a good battery powered condenser mic for under $100... man, you really don't have many mic's to pick from with those requirements... maybe the Rode NT3 or AKG C1000S... but, both suck as main vocal mic's IMO. You need phantom power.
