can i hook a Mesa Head up to any cab or does it hae to be a Mesa cab? thanks

as long as impedances match and watts are equal or more (100watt head needs 100 watt cab, less can be done but you might fry your cab).

But a mesa is a good amp. So you need a good cab. not just any (read; behringer or other crap hahaha) cab

well my cab has more than 200 watts can i use a Mesa 100 watt head?

well.... yes. What kind of cab is it btw? and what's the impedance (in ohm?)

Plenty good.....Just make sure to match up your impedances correctly.......when in doubt, always set the amp on "4" ohms. For the best possible set up though you would ideally match the impedances evenly. Since the Mesa head is more than likely a mono head, you will be using either the 4 or 16 (Mono / Mono )setting on your cabinet. It doesn't matter which one you use, as long as you match the evenly.........so is you are using the 4 ohm main out on your head, you would select the 4 ohm mono input on your cab........and the same would be true for 16 ohms.

If you have the opportunity, try out a Mesa Rectifier cabinet. I played my Mesa Triple Rectifier through a pair of Marshall 4x12 cabs for years. On a whim I got rid of them and got the matching Mesa cabinet... I would have never dreamed how much difference the cabinet made in my sound. The main Marshall cabinet I used even had the same type of speakers and the Mesa enclosure just sounded better.

My sound was really good before, but it sounded fucking GREAT when I got the matching cab.
