O.K.
So I replace the wires going from the XLR to mic.
No problem thanks to Harvey's help.
However.......at first no sound.
Flick the roll off switch a few times.......nada.
HHMMMPH.
So I undo the XLR end of the wires, pop open the case again, and hook up aligator clips to the wires and to the XLR (thinking that maybe I crossed the wires) to the oposite pins.
nothing.
Switch the clips back to where I started and I get sound (with a little ground noise) ....switch the roll off to flat......no more ground noise and good sound.
Great. Put it back together.
NO sound.
What the F%$K!!
Take it apart....do the clip thing.
No sound ....BUT.....in the rolled off position there is now a loud ground hum (I am just hook it up to my little Marantz cassete deck with the trim cranked).
When I switch to flat there is no more ground noise but no sound either.
I unfastened the switch from the housing and it hums and stops as I move it around.
The solder joints on the switch itself look very good and so do the wires but even when I move it around there is very little movement of the wires where they enter the case.
The mic appears to be built well and everything lays neatly and snugly.
What do I do now??????
Is there something in the switch itself???(i.e. the easy fix) or does it sound like something deeper in the case?????
Any (more) help would be greatly appreciated.
