making vocals that were recorded at varying distances sound "the same"

hello there...

so i've made a dumb mistake, and in separately recording several voices in an ensemble song with several solo lines, for a theatrical demo, i failed to ensure that everyone was singing at similar distances from the mike. so now i have quite a hodgepodge of distances on my hand and it isn't great.

what is the best way, with effects, that i can diminish this mistake? put some reverb on the close-recorded ones...? or is there a better way....?

thanks so much, and a happy thanksgiving to you all!

Proximity issues

The two major problems you're going to come across are proximity and reverb. You seem to know understand the differences between dead and live, and I'd recommend adding reverb to the closer ones, just don't over do it? I'm not sure where your background is at. Proximity might be a bigger problem depending on which mic you used, if you used a dynamic microphone i suggest taking out bass in the vocals (an average practice) and as you get closer to the mic, roll off more bass. I hope that helps.

right. you'll need to adjust eq and add reverb to certain vocals. i think they have plugins out there to help "match" different vocal takes, but I don't have any experience with them personally or know where to point you if interested.
