for all of those who don't know, just as there is a magazine for rappers " Source, XXL, Murda Dog....." there is also one called Scratch. i've been reading these magazines for the past year they are really nice i just decided to have them delivered to my house instead of buying them from news stands.

SCRATCH MAGAZINE the top magazine for producers

scratch is really good for DJ more then producers..other then they interview producers..but it is the #1 Producer magazine...another good one is Recording Magazine http://www.recordingmag.com and Electric Musician www.emusician.com are the best to me as real tips ot insights on the new equipment..

if you into computer software...like most of you are check out Computer Music http://www.computermusic.co.uk it about $14 but if give great tutorials on programs..

just adding a little more for you

I love looking at Scratch....always good info in there. The ads help keep me more in touch as to what's available. I need to get my subscription.

yea ive been getting scratch since i first saw it. i like it because its all about the producers and not just the artists and it seems to be more geared toward the underground...i rely on their album reviews pretty heavily they usually seem to be on point.

thanks bknot, i'm going to check those links out. it's amazing how much money you save by having stuff delivered to your door vs. buying from news stands.

Yeah, I subscribed to Scratch the first time i saw it at Borders. I once subscribed to Recording, but not anymore and I pick up Computer Music every now and then... CM is more based on electronica and techno, but there's usually some good general tips in each issue. The free DVD Rom is an added bonus too. Also I notice in CM, they will often have an instrumental on the DVD Rom and a step by step tutorial of how they made it. The free Plug-ins and samples don't hurt either.

that's funny, i just picked up this month's issue with David Banner on the cover while i was at Guitar Center today.

I'm reading my Remix magazine. Not bad considering it's fairly new. I think it can evolve with time.

yeah, i have one of those also. if i'm not mistaken i have the one with mf doom and danga mouse on the cover.

I heard that was a good one. The new issue is my first....with depeche mode on the cover.

I got them all!

Every scratch mag to hit the shelves i got, and man were they worth it.

Whats funny is the evolution of a magazine you notice over a period of time, kinda like how the source was the premiere HIP-HOP mag and now its just another magazine, not a bad one but not at the statis it once was.

yeah, i remember being really impressed with the way Murda Dog was put together. that magazine uses glossy heavy stock paper for the cover and the way the magazine focused on the local acts that are only regionally known was very impressive for me. i've seen a lot of people that i either went to school with, lived around or served in the military with featured in that magazin. not to change the subject but i was int he military with Bo Hagen (lil Bo) at Ft. Hood Texas. This female manager who was related to Master P was trying to get me to do a song with him. this was right when he did a song for the So So Def Bass All Stars tape. he was just the average aspiring rapper at the time, he got out of the military when i went to korea in 2000 and hooked up with Jon as Lil Bo and the rest is history. getting back to the subject, Don Diva is another one that just blew me away with it's content and packaging.

has anyone read FED Magazine?

did anyone who subscribed when i did get there magazine yet? i got a letter two weeks ago saying that i need to enclose payment, i thought i payed online but i checked my account and the transaction never went through. i just called the number on the website and got things expedited. i ordered the back issues that i did not have for $6.50 a piece and the one year subscription was $12.00. she told me that she will be mailing my order out in the morning.

Scratch is mos def a good read. i also read Computer Music and Electronic Musician
