Hello, I'm planning to start my a modest home studio, mostly to record vocals and acoustic guitar.

I'll be trying two condenser mics (used) the AT2020 and the MXL990 - (then I'll choose one and sell the other).

As for the audio interface I can get my hands on two used ones: the M-audio pre USB (1st version) or a Lexicon Omega.

Does anyone have an opinion on wich one to buy? (I don't feel much like trying both like I did with the mics)

thanks

they both have there're pros but m-audio has a little better durabilitly.

The 1st generation MobilePre is limited to 16-bit recording whereas the Lexicon Omega supports full 24-bit recording (which may or may not matter to you). With this said, I used a 1G MobilePre for a few years while first starting up my studio and I was very happy with it. I have bought a few other M-Audio products since then and I am very pleased with their quality. I don't have any experience with any of Lexicon's products so I can't speak for them. You'll just have to compare specs and listen to some demos of each interface to decide what is right for you.

Good luck!

not sure about lexicon...but ive had my mobile pre for years and its never failed me...1 good thing about is u can use it with protools Mpowered...and 1 bad thing about is you cant control your monitors with it..
