since u dont need a new mic and are not allowed to install anything on your computer. look into m audio's new line of usb audio interfaces. i use the pci version of the delta 66 w omni studio and like it pretty good.

the Audiophile usb made by them is just under $200 @ AMS. do a little research on it that just may help.

This may be a suggestion that no one has thought of, although I hope you are not doing it. I notice most rappers take the ball of the mic in their fists and rap into it, holding on to it like a baseball, essentially obscuring the mic capsule with their meaty gam of a hand. Make sure your mic is mounted on a stand and put some distance between your mouth and the mic capsule. If you are already doing this, then my suggestion is also a SM57.

Great Info! I have all of my mics in front of me. I started with my Neumann and dented the screen. After testing, I got a better tone. I will keep denting (Tuning!) this mic until it sounds sweeter!
I will post my results later......

Well, this begs the question- what's the best hammer to use for mic tuning?
