I would pan the picking guit to the right opposite the strumming, wil give the bass a little more room.
lol...I thought I had, but I went back and looked and the picking git was a lot further right than the strumming git...I did my best to balance them on the new mix that I just uploaded. Thanks for the ears.
I appreciate the post a lot, Llarion. It's definitely bittersweet, but it's gonna' be (almost as much) fun to watch her grow as a singer and a writer when she's on her own. Thanks again.
My ears kept getting pulled to that one side. Not sure if it is really bad, just different.
Thanks wireneck...you weren't alone, lol. I moved the shaker over to the right and worked on the balance a bit...well, and I retracked the bass to try to clear up the mud and give more real estate to the middle of the mix. I appreciate your time. How's it going? Haven't seen you in forever.
Was the bass with the Fender Bronco? How'd you mic that acoustic? I always get a bit of a low end boom when I use an LDC. I like to get up close with the Naiants, it solves the whole proximity effect problem. Nice strings, what were they done with?
It's a beautiful song. I take it you did the instrumentation?
Thanks for listening. Yeah, the version you listened to was done with that P.O.S. bass, lol. The current mix was done with an acoustic bass...I'm not sold on it yet, but I like it better than what was there. I mic'd the acoustics with an AT4050...recently cut them in the mud region a tad...don't know if it helped yet or not.

- As for the strings, that's my daughter playing her viola. I did the gits and bass and (*gulp*) shaker. I'm trying hard not to "cheat" on anything with this record...I want it simple, acoustic...no drums...as honest as I can get it. This track is more of a practice run, so I appreciate the input a lot.
The Taylor comment is a compliment as I'm a fan.
I appreciate the comments a lot. They're the same age.
Going to listen now, and thanks as always for your words and attitude.
