I just bought the LA-2A signature edition because I love the UA sound. I thought the signature edition would be a bump up from the regular edition. I haven't listend to it yet mind you. Now I am thinking maybe I should have gone with the 6176 since the price is in the ballpark. Buyer's remorse, you know the drill. Any opinions? I have a feeling I know the answer and won't like it.

Isn't the 6176 a channel strip? The LA2A is a compressor. An excellent studio standard compressor at that.

Sorry, I meant the 610 which has a "version" of the LA-2A in the strip.

Oh, well in that case, yes, I'd get the 6176 - it's has the actual 1176 compressor in it.. But, that's just my opinion. Well actually, I'd ditch the 6176 and get a ME-1NV and a Purple MC77. It will kick the crap out of either of the UA pieces mentioned, and will run you about the same amount of $$$.

The 1176 and LA2A are incredible pices of equipment. However, IMHO, the 610 and the T4 (the comp in the "LA2A version") are barely mid level, for a high end price.

NL5, thanks a lot for the responses. I went with the 6176 and got it for a good price (less than what I paid for the LA610). I understand your comments about other equipment. But when I want a clear channel, I use my Grace pre's which I find to be awesome. I am looking for the UAD feel and am really happy to have an 1176 with a good tube pre attached to it.

Thanks again.
