John Hardy pre with ribbon mic

Has anyone out there used a ribbon mic with the John Hardy pre? I have been thinking in this direction for a while now. Any comments are welcome.

I cut a vocal at a friend's room with a Royer R-121 into a Hardy M-1. Gorgeous. Used the same combo on a guitar cabinet there. Again, great tone.

You'll need a lot of clean, quiet gain for a ribbon, and the John Hardy preamp delivers. The price of admission is pretty steep, but his preamps are lifetime pieces. Very transparent-sounding mic pres.

John makes GREAT pres. The deesign is great, the work is great. Very quality peice. You cant go wrong. Feel comfortable buying the pre. Good luck!
