To use a bass guitar with a guitar amp (a regular guitar amp, not a bass amp)? Will a decent bass sound pump through even though the amp is for a 6 string electric guitar?

Or is it crazy to do this? I don't plan to do it live. I just plan on buying a cheap bass to try to give my recordings a little bit of depth

thanks

It'll work, but low end will be severely lacking. You'd get a better bass sound going direct than trying to use a guitar amp.

no, that's not crazy to do at all, just don't get carried away with the volume - as a guitar cabinet isn't designed to cope with too much low end.

not "wrong" but you should be careful and keep an eye on the volume level or you could damage your speaker.

I would also look into a SansAmp for direct recording and maybe explore the possibility of using the amp plus direct recording. Mic the amp at a fairly low volume and reduce the low end. In other words, use the amp to add some additional sparkle or whatever seems appropriate.

Ok, thanks. Definitely wont be playing loud. It isn't going to boom out of there. I just want to try to get a clean deep sound to underscore an acoustic guitar.
