Hi. I would like to introduce myself. I have been producing for about a year now, and I've realized that I am not as good as I would like to be.. at all.

I am getting into electronic music but I am searching far and wide for samples that could potentially be good for my songs. I cannot find anything. I have made some remixes, but they aren't good at all. I just would like you guys to be honest because that's the only way I can get better. Trust me I don't have anything to lose.

I need all the help I can get.. I have no one but myself.

Thanks so much,

Please don't look at this as an advertisement. If there is any way to share my music without the advantage of promotion please let me know.. I am desperate. I'm sitting here at 2 in the morning waiting for ANY type of advice.

Thanks so much.

Not clear what advice or help you're looking for. You've got to quantify.

Hey Kalendo...are you interest in producing or only remixing electronic music? What equpiment and/or software have you gathered so far?

I think if you are starting off its important to have goals, but its lso important to realise there are no real shortcuts, it takes a real slog to get to a certain standard...when you say samples what do you mean? Drum samples, vocal samples, loops, construction kits??

I use samples a lot, but mostly the are drum hits within maschine or within Kontakt, a sample player....for vocals parts i use anything, youtube, the tv..l have decks and record of them too

I cant listen to your mix as im in a hotel room with an ipad, but if its a piece of original work and you want some genuine feedback stick it in the mp3 clinic...maybe comment on a few others while youre there

But dont despair...theres a realisation once the dust settles that this is harder than you thought it would be, it hits us all when starting, but thats what akes it worth it :thumbs up:

Thanks a lot.. for some strange reason I was supposed to subscribe to the thread but I didn't.

Anyway, the stuff I have purchased is the Akai LPD8, Ableton Live and a bunch of VSTs. I want to invest in a great midi controller like the Maschine.

To clarify myself,
My first set questions are:
When I go to studios, I see many 'hardwares' in it.
- I have no idea what they do. Can anyone tell me an example of a 'rack' or a 'rig' of hardwares and their purposes?
- Could VSTs replace those hardwares?
- Are there certain hardwares that are absolutely necessary to buy? Like lets say, a 24 channel mixer?

My second question is:
- When I say samples, I mean certain files (like synths) that I can use to add my MIDI sequences to them. I feel as if I am picking terrible samples/instruments.. I end up with R&B or soca instead of electronic music, if that helps visualize my pain.

- I am wondering if you guys create your own samples from songs, or download them from a site?

You guys are right, it is in fact hard. I hope that people will give me good feedback in the mp3 clinic.. I will be also trying my best to give feedback as well.

Thank you again!

You really don't need a mixer or rack gear (unless that is the sound that you want) VST's do emulate the hardware well - but not quite the same.
