can you use an instrument cable from your monitor to your interface?

if i understand correctly...

Yes you may do this, however typically you have two monitors, so I'm not exactly sure if you are speaking of speaker monitors or not. most interfaces have a 1/4 jack in for instrument cables, and your speaker will need them too. Make sure you get balanced trs cables, they make a difference and you can't take any chances while mixing

yes, I'm talking about monitors

I just want to know if I need to buy new cables - "non-instrument" to go from each monitor to my mbox or if I can just use what I have which are 1/4'' instrument cables.

Not really i use standard instrument TS cables to hook my monitors up, although i believe TRS have better ground noise rejection.

ok,

You can use your standard instrument cables, especially if you are low on funds, but if you do come into some cash then a simple upgrade to your rig would be balanced TRS's. Mixing is one of those things that the smaller components are just as important as the big expensive ones.

balanced TRS's

ok thanks guys

when I get the money I'll get the balanced TRS's
