Hey, you guys seem to be a really helpful community...

ANYWAY!

My freinds dad used to play guitar and he saw this mic in his house in scotland last summer, and I decided I would see what it was like, becuase I've been fooling around alot with recording recently.

Anyway it's a pretty good sounding mic, well to be honest I'm no professional so I don't have anything professional to compare it to but it seems to capture drums/bass/guitars pretty nicely.

So.. I wanted to know what sort of level this mic would be at and how much it would normally cost to buy? so i know in general how 'good' it is :D

I've looked all over the internet for it but I can't find it ANYWHERE, but it looks quite modern

Anyway it says 'Philips' and 'Studio Mixer Booster' on it and that's it, my camera is in for repairs now so I can't take any good pics but heres the best one i can find:

oh and don't mind that makeshift mic stand hahah :p

what?!? i dont understand!

The Alldaysmile is a spam bot or spam person.... Don't mind their useless posts (the whole idea puzzles me too)...

looks like an sm57 ripoff, probably cost $30 new

You may want to look at older Philips tape recorders. Most of them came with a mic and this may be one of them. Looks like the cord is attached (does it have a 1/4" jack on it?) and that was how most units came...whether reel to reel or cassette - I couldn't tell you, but most like R/R. Doesn't hurt to try.

I would venture to say, based on the construction of the mic and its logo as well, it most likely post dates any Philips R2R tech (but it's just a hunch). However, all avenues of research should be pursued when curiousity strikes (I'll admit to being an obsessive researcher at times lol).... :p

the wire goes straight from inside the mic to the type of jack that electric guitars use (i think thats 1/4", right?)

im guessing it did go with a philips tape recorder, because he said something about his dads recorder being in scotland aswell............ hmmm
