i using sm57 and i tend to use multiple mics on one amp to get a lot of tone variety i also use it so my music sound seem a little bit more full im looking for a good mic to step up to (price not to big of a deal) or should i just stay with multiple shure sm 57

now what a bout bass what is a good mic

I'd stick with using an SM57 for both guitar and bass and save the money for a nice large-condenser vocal mic.

hey

is it good to use multiple mic for a tone variety

It's common for people to use a SM57 right up on the speaker grill and also use a condensor mic about 3 feet away to add some clarity and depth to the sound. As long as the 2 (or more) mics are in phase with each other, then they can add some depth and beef to your guitar sound. Personally, I think that a single SM57 sounds good enough on a guitar cabinet for a home recordist.
