Greets, all. Just wanted to say how much "the room" matters. I've just recently moved out of my house/studio, and into a new home with a separate building for my new studio.

In the meantime, I've set up my rig temporarily in a bedroom...

Now I've always had a problem with my mixes not quite translating properly to home stereos. Usually the problem was too much bass. Well, wouldn't you know, I move into this bedroom, and all of a sudden my mixes are booming... and not in a good way. Now it's still a little harsh in here, I haven't got any treatment on the walls, but man, I just can't believe how much of a difference there was in the bottom end.
Here I thought my nearfields just couldn't put out enough bass, yet it was under my nose all the time.

All I can say is this is quite the incentive to get my ass in gear and build my new studio. I'll have some pics of the building up in a few days....

Has anyone else been lied to by thier room?

I do .. I was mixing on a pair of mid-fi speakers in an untreated room and always getting boomy bass. Now I've bought myself a pair of Genelec 1031's and I found out I can hear all the sub-bass when standing next to the door :D :D

Next step is finding a 703-equivalent in my country (where companies still don't know the medium 'e-mail', because ain't nobody replying my mails :( )
