I need 2 hypercardioids for snare and hi hat. What would you suggest? I am relatively sure I want small diaphragm condensors.

C1000s have a hypercardiod adapter.. besides that I have no idea, sorry.

I would recommend the Oktava mc012 with a hypercard capsule, and an sm57 with a good noise gate.

You didn't state any budget, so here goes:

For the snare, a Beyer M201. For the Hat, I would go with an AKG 480 or a Neumann 184. That's just me, though.

I went with a pair of C1000s. I used them on the snare and hi hat during the jamfest sessions last week and the results were surprisingly good.
