Wait, which crappy sound are you wanting to recreate? The crappy synths, crappy drum loops, or crappy vocals?

I really don't know anything about this type of music, but I would guess that Reason, Fruity Loops, and Autotune would get you most of the way there...along with the fisting.

any type of "synth lead" will have that type of sound if you have garage band it has them. but if in doubt search krvaudio for "synth lead"

Actually, I've always kind of liked that sound, when used in moderation at the right time and place.

It reminds me of calliope music.

Take 3 or so Sawtooth oscillators and detune them. That'll give you the raw "stringy" sound. The envelope has fast attack, lower the sustain somewhat, and fiddle with decay until you get a nice punch.

This particular example sounds to be pretty hi-passed, so through on a HPF. Towards the end (before the vocal drops), he sweeps an LPF (with a bit of a resonance) down.

Pretty much it, in a nutshell... Try out pretty much any VA synth.
