24 bit converters etc for $449.00 at Musicians Friend

Get one

yep, its an awesome price, you can get one for $399, i'm getting mine for under $300 though :) it has awesome quality. can't nothing match it for the price.

Where?

Do you have an 800 number or email address for your source that you can share? That is a very good price. P.S. last time I checked, Musicians friend had them on backorder....

Use the search button. There are a couple of c-port users here (and we like it:) )

the only way you are getting one under $399 is if you know people that can get them cheaper for you, thats what i did. if you know anyone at a music store ask them what price they can get for you. tracertek i think has them at $415. you can get on here at $399.

they have real quick shipping too. i had a friend order one lat friday and he got it yesterday.

So, what's the down side to this setup?
Any comments as to the quality of the pres?
Anybody experience crashes or lockups?
Has anyone used C-Port with software other than the Emagic stuff supplied?

The advertised flexibility of this unit has me questioning the purchase of an Omni Studio.

only one downside is unbalanced in/out. i just set up a c-port yesterday with nuendo and cubase, no problems at all. its a better buy than the omni to me

Sta Hoontech seem to have something they call a systems three
which seems to be a balanced deal but at the price i guess it should be.

the only other deal@495 ive seen is the delta 1010 and id like to see a comparison between the delta 1010 and the c port@399

THE I,O,S seem to be the same only the c port has two xlr balanced lines in and out where the delta 1010 does not have these xlr lines though it does have midi in out the down side i guess is the cports 8/10 i,o,s are unbalanced if they were balanced id be running out quick to by one of these.

I still need to buy a soundcard set up with multiple i,os so i still have time and while i wait prices just keep getting better whats a few months to wait when the savings are that much better not much id say.

Ah, a subject that is still a bit elusive to me. If the cables are kept short (3 to 10 feet), are the unbalanced I/O that big of a noise problem?

short runs may help but as you always find out in the end a corner you cut now is a corner that comes back to haunt you later on im fast learning this and restraining my buying habits now to save me the grief later on all considering how quick computer gear becomes tomorrows garage sale bargin bin items i guess you get what you pay for so save the bills and buy wise or spend up quick and replace before your time

I thougth about the Hoontech, but turned it down in favor of the Delta 1010.

The reason is because of Gadget Labs. I had an 8/24 until recently, and it was great until they went under. No WDM drivers, no xp drivers, no new drivers period.

I dont mind buying something like a microphone from a small, new company, but that is the last computer component I will buy from someone that hasnt been around for a while. It was a little over a year ago that I bought the gadget labs card, and now I just had to sell it and take a big loss. I learned my lesson.

The delta 10 10 has been my pick for sometime now i guess price is the main factor here i live in australia these things are over 2k out here and i aint paying that the cheapest in the us ive seen them is 495usd and i feel thats heading in the direction more closer to what iam willing to part with all considering the value of this stuff as the new release comes out.

it would be nice if these things had universal power supplies because thats the only difference between what you get in the us and australia id also like to know if anyone knows if all you have to do is get the dedicated power supply and plug it in for these things to work out here as i will buy a us unit and ship it here and just do that.

the only other hoontech release i thought may be better then the delta 1010 would be the sta systems three which seems to be totally balanced so they say but at the price it is the delta1010 sure would win on the price @495usd

id like to see a comparison between the 1010 and hoontech systems three id say if its constructive listing all the pros and cons rather then just some salesperson selling it all it would make good reading ive read the delta 1010 stuff and all ive read is good just would like to see the two compared or hear from someone who might know which is the better system and can list why

the other hoontech system the cport seems great but it aint balanced on the jacks so other then the two balanced xlr io,s the other 8 are unbalanced i mean it all may be ok and i guess the price is pretty good for what you get it would just be nice if it were balanced but then again if it was would anyone buy their system three ?

AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

What's the frecking fuzz about balanced I/O. The cables between your preamps/mixer and soundcard can be short enough.

Balanced inputs are good but don't base your purchase on it.

why did you favor the Delta 1010 over the C-port? to me the c-port offers more...

I'm still toying with this thing. The fact is, the C-port's got two balanced I/O where I was thinking they were all unbalanced.
Personaly this would suffice as I'm going to electronic drums and only need two ins. I only need two for acoustic guitar and two for amp and room mics on electric.
I don't know that I would base the buying decision on the balanced/unbalanced question anyway. I haven't had experience with the two of them together to get an idea of the actual drawbacks.

Ola, how long have you had yours and what else would you point out to a rookie like me that's considering this setup?

I'm using an Athalon 1000mhz with 7200rpm drive and will probably use outboard FX.

I've had the C-Port for about 2 months now. Most details have been accurately reported.24 bit-96K capable 8 unbalanced ins and outs ,2 balanced XLR ins and outs with pres and phantom power, stereo SPDIF via the included daughtercard.Comes with Logic but I use N-Track Studio. Also has midi in and out on the breakout box.Thats where the AD-DA converters are located also, giving a cleaner sound than units with the converters inside the PC.
here's a link to an mp3,just some blues done as a test.
