This is a derivative work of 'Hey There Delilah', as performed by Plain White Tees. If you don't know the original, then this will sound pointlessly and painfully juvenile. I'm just having some fun though the eyes of my 12-year old self. In my living room. With the lights on.

WARNING: Content-wise, this is PG-13 at best.

Thanks for any pointers, comments, etc.

I heard a Hey There Vagina before, is this the same one?

Did you do this in MIDI or Garage Band or something? The guitar doesnt sound very authentic.

This is an original derivative work, so wouldn't be the same as what you heard before. Yes, the guitar is MIDI. The guitar came out better there than what I could do with my piece of plywood, IMO. :)

Guitar sound is good for MIDI but still sounds like MIDI to anyone who plays a guitar. Did you use "Realistic Guitar" or something like that?

Sounds good though. Didn't recognize the song by the name but now that I listened to it I know I've heard it before.

What mic did you use on vocals?

Ah, bummer about the trend part. Guess I should have checked first. I feel cheap now!

The vocal mic was a Studio Projects C-1. The guitar was just samples manually programmed in Cubase. I suppose I could spend more time with it, but as my goal is to entertain and not to pretend to be a good musician, it reaches a point of diminishing returns for me. I would be just as happy with a session musician for the guitar, for instance.

Thanks!

The comic value of this is wasted on me because I'm pretty impressed with your vocals and the quality of those guitar samples. What VSTi is that you're using?

That was mildly retarded and halfway amusing. I sincerely hate the real version of this song, but you made it bearable. Good job. :D

That's very flattering, thanks! The samples are from Kontakt.

Edit: Thanks to Cuervo and Greg L too!! :)

There's some hesitation in the chords in spots which is kinda distracting.
The recording overall is great though sonically, the midi guitar ain't bad and the vocals have a nice tone....

Good spoof too.....:D

In my final-40-minute-stretch here at work, this brought a sincere smile...

I've never heard the song your doing a parody of, but this is freaking HILARIOUS!!!

This is good stuff.

:D

By the way is "G-L-A-M-O-R-(eo)-U-S" a Fergie spoof? Because my brother is always laughing at how she's always spelling in her songs.

You're pretty damn funny. MORE!

I like all the synth work on glameross!!! You did a really good job with that. The funy thing about your version is that all the music is totally high quality and would actually go all the way to the top in that kind of music industry. Just put in a hot chick to sing, and alot of people would love it. Good job man.

Thank you all so much for the positive comments, seriously. I am very happy that this was so well received! To answer fatstrat's question, yes Glamorous was a Fergie spoof - it just seemed to fit. And to answer someone else's question, that line about 'got my royalty bestowed, so it's time to end this ode' is actually a triple entedre (sp?), meaning

1) Got my royalty payments, woo hoo!
2) Fergie's last album was called 'The Dutchess', and she may share that nickname with an actual Dutchess, which conveys a sense of royalty but....
3) The other Dutchess is Sarah Ferguson (Duchess of York), but as you may have guessed, spells 'Duchess' D-u-c-h-e-s-s, so when Fergie (or whoever) spelled it D-u-t-c-h-e-s-s, I just HAD to take a jab. . . :)

So, so happy.
