thank you track rat! i have been working there for many years now and it is a slammin busy studio. some current major acts have recorded there "before they were stars". the console is a harrison 32 and i love it.

Being from the Windsor area, I'm quite farmiliar with the Mill... anyone who's played on the Detroit/Windsor circuit is. Hell, you could almost say 'Legendary.'
It's a nice place, and like anything, has it's ups and downs. I've heard some great things come out of there, and some stuff that left me wondering how something so bad can come out of a studio so good.

So Masked Man, how does one get the grand tour?

wow! I got a new role model..

finally a user that uses Neumann's...

Do you think MCI 24-tr consoles are just as good as Studers? I really don't know myself.

Great collection of keyboards and amps, too. A hammond A-100 is something I'd love to have one day (Genesis fan here). Maybe you can get a Mellotron one day (if you don't mind the maintenance, but they're quite in demand again these days).

Can't wait to achieve (or near achieve) yer setup.

:-),
robin

why does yer schedule page take me to Major League Baseball?

I was drooling at the gtr/amp pics. The white Marshall head on the Orange cabinet was pretty classy...not to mention the old vox gtr. ...to the SG...a really good selection.

so...how do you like the Urie's? as compared to current speakers? I am really interested in your opinions there.

Very, very, nice. The only negative comment I'll make is to say I wouldn't put up a picture on my web site showing that I would do *that* to a perfectly good SG! They got some nice gear indeed, but I think I'll bring my own instruments, thank you. It is also heartwarming to see that in a world with a Neve front end, a VC1Q slipped in the back door. I envy you your job.-Richie

oz if your serious about getting a tour just pm me and we can set it up. as far as mci vs struder, i have never used a struder but i will say that the mci sounds great but needs tlc from time to time.
mixmkr, i rarely ever use the ureis. i like the krk's are much better. my ears dont get fatiuged by them but the uries have their place.
i am very honored to work at this studio and be able to use all of the high end gear that i always have heard about but could only dream of seeing let alone touching. one great benifet of working there is that if i like i can borrow things for use in my home studio(like mics). that rules ass.

Sweet.........! Where did the gear racks (behind the console) come from? Custom-built job or purchased?

maskedman - How is the Harrison holding up? I worked at a studio that had an MR-2 and I was constantly changing mic preamp chips. It wasn't a big deal because that console was SWEET! I taught the engineer who worked there most of the time some tricks on it that he didn't know existed. If I remember correctly the 3232 is the same model that Mr. Bruce Sweiden has at his house. (Heavily modified of course!) Keep hammering at it maskedman, don't give up. You are very lucky to be in a place like that, don't take it for granted.

smythology, I presume you are talking about MCI vs Studer multitracks, not consoles. The Harrison we had was hooked up to a Studer 80A and that thing was a DREAM to work with and on. You really felt like you were working on a very fine, precise piece of machinery. I would take it over the MCI anyday though. I worked with the MCI JH24 too (connected to an MCI 636) and it was a very solid machine. The best analogy I could make between the two is the MCI is a Chevy and the Studer is a Mercedes. The Chevy is gonna get you where you are going just like the Mercedes, it's just that the Mercedes is gonna get you there in style. The Studer handled tape like a BABY.
