Flailing up a storm.
I've picked up quite a bit by context, but could anyone direct me to better resources for understanding the whole signal strength topic a bit better.

I guess this is about gain structuring, limits, coinpression, etc, but I really want to just make sure i understand the basics of the vocabulary and fundamentatals.

If it helps, much of my curiousity comes from the ongoing discussion of overall volume of tracks and mixes as compares to major label CDs, and how that breaks down to tracking and mixing. Perhaps even someof the basics of reading VU meters etc.

Thanks in advance for anythign you all can add here.
