someone recently just gave me a 8 channel 100 ft snake and the way i have it hooked up is i got 6 channels going into my mixer and two going into my pro mpa art tube preamp and i have the two outs from that going into my mixer
so i hooked up two condenser mics that need phantom power into channels 1 and 2 of the snake so they can go to the preamp but the preamp isnt picking them up at all and i am pressing the +48v button on the preamp
any other mics works but the ones that need phantom power arent working with that snake
now when i plug the phantom power mics directly into the preamp they work fine

does this have to do with the snake?

Ok? first what is the format of the snake? is it a box to fan w xlrl female to xlr male? if so then check to make sure that you are getting continuity on pins 1 2 and 3, if you are not then you are probably not either recieving pin 2 signal or pin 3 is not supplying phantom. if it is 1/4" than make sure you have a trs plug at both ends and not a ts, older snakes from the older era sometimes uses ts returns.
