Hi All: I recently came into a new UA solo 610 pre amp and am having trouble believing my ears. I ran each of these mics through it at various setting and the RODE NT1A blew both 414 AKG's away to my ears. It also translated the same to the mix (I used each on vocals/harmonica). I found the AKG's to be dark/muffled, and using the Putec EQ on my UA plugins could not clear them up. I am not at all technically versed. I go by my ears. Up until now, I hav been using the AKG's on my snare and guitar amp and a beyerdynamic M500 mic through a altec lansing 1592A mixer for the vocal/harp mic. It has recently broken and until I get it fixed, I am going to use the UA on the vocal/harp mic. I am a live 1 man band, playing drums, keys, harp, guitar, and vocals at once. Everything is done live, no overdubb.

THese sound samples were done as follows: mics NT1A, AKGC414 TLII &ULS) into universal audio solo 610 preamp- delta1010soundcard, samplitude classic V8. No Eq or mastering added. Any feedback on if the AKG's sound true to character or maybe they need to be serviced would be appreciated. Thanks! Walter
