I am what I would call green. I play acoustic guitar and sing as well. I am trying to figure out a few things. First, what would be a good low end/cost microphone to record both my acoustic guitar and my vocals at the same time? Second, what is the best way to go from a XLR microphone into my computers sound card? Adapters? What options are there? Lastly, any advice really appreciated. Thanks

and the next step up, I will leave to others...but, I really had a good time with just a pc mic
You will need a mic preamp, and if you are going to sing and play guit at the same time you will need two mics, IMO. The best super inexpensive setup I can think of is the following:
