hi folks!

I have a question for you:

How can you take out the background amp noise of guitar rig when recording?

because its very annoying and I've listened songs made with guitar rig and they dont have this noise.

thanks.

Maybe you cant hear the noise in the songs cuz everything else is covering it up. Or I am wrong:)

Put a noise gate in the effects rack, do it after any pedals/amps/eq/compression,
but before any reverb/delay etc.

You can't cut down the noise full stop, unless you turn the distortion way down
(i'm guessing you're using distortion), but putting a gate in the signal chain
will mute the noise when you're not playing. And you won't really notice it
when you are playing.

Another thing you may want to look at is your guitar itself. What kind of pick-ups do you have. Obviously humbuckers were originally made to reduce pickup "Hum". In guitar rig or even an amp, the idea is to drive the input which exagerates the noise even further. I read a very interesting article a few years ago about sheilding the pickup cavity. Even some expensive well made guitars don't have the cavities properly shielded. Here's a short article but if you do a google, you'll find all kinds of information. Stu Mac actually sells tape for this particular use. Something to look into anyway.

Other than that, the gate is a good idea.

thanks for your replies! noise gate and noise reduction were the key hehe
