I've fought with the drummer in my band for like 3 years now on this and I just can't budge him. Granted his drums are the really nice "type" offered in their, but I still hate them and now I'm coming into the problem of how to record them.

Roland V Drums Electronic drums with live cymbals.

The problem I have is that I can't separate each drum, or even toms, snare, n kick into individual tracks. I'm left with just two mono outputs from the module. Thank god I convinced him to use live cymbals though.

I figure I'll end up panning toms n kick to one channel and snare on the second or vice versa.

Any idea's on how to record this? I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Can you not record each pad as MIDI information and use samples in the box?

If you have to pan, I'd do kick and snare on one channel and toms on the other. I'd think it would be easier to make separate kick and snare tracks afterwards that way.

Honestly, I have no idea. I do not at all know the workings of this module at all and unfortunately the drummer knows little more than I do. I'll look into that though.

thats what i had to do i got the drum module and hooked it up via midi to my comp to where i didnt record the sound ..only midi..then i would play it back and from there you have more mixing options
