God bless the Gibson Les Paul...(and a new song)

Every now and then it's a good idea to turn your Les Paul and Marshall up really loud and stick a SM57 in front of it. It's good for the soul.

I just finished laying down some vocals for this new heavy tune. All comments welcome...always got my radar on for improvements.
This one might make you want to apologize to your wives.

Some semi-technical info if you're interested: The lead vocal in the chorus is double-tracked. I did all spoken word/voice-overs myself. Verse lead vocals are stereo miked with a MC012 and a Bheringer B2...( a little experiment that I believe was worth the try).

In the quiet parts I thought I was listening to Gentle Giant. Very cool stuff.

The build / chord changes in the vocal parts is excellent.

Bit of sibilance on the lead vocals would be my only complaint.

No 3D is the first thing my crap headphones tell me. Nice , but sorta thin vocals. The distorted guitar has a loud and clear 80'ies vibe over it.

Kinda Toolish in a good way.

Ah.. break at 3.12, VERY nice.. very Tool.. Really good job on the canned drums.

All in all.. very good job. Top notch in the clinic.

That's a very non-traditional way to place the electrics... I would have done something conventional, like spread 'em out...

CrAAAzy synth leading up to 2:52...

The little riff at 3:22 kind of pronounces this as your "sound..." cuz there's a similar riff in "Feathers and Bones".

Ah... the gf helps out... can she sing? A good way to get her to let you record all you want: get her involved!

This is a good one! VERY dynamic, even for you. The spoken word stuff (and its recording) gives me a bit of a Queensryche vibe. ...dont make that face....... thats cool . Shit man, there's so much candy in this, Im not gonna try to tell ya what i liked best........ cause it all tastes fuckin' great! Great way to mix up the acoustics and electrics.... .....another education in panning.

Here's my favorite part...For once, I think I totally understand this tune. The title is very cool after listening to the tune. I expect nothing but "sonic greatness" from you, and it's here...but I really REALLY like the song itself.

hahaha...I like the effect on the spoken vocal at the very beginning. Kind of a cross between that voice disguising module used by 60 Minutes and my next door neighbor. Lemme' guess, it's a preset called "DUMBASS," right?

Other than in the chorus, one is panned 90%L and one is 94%R. The chorus is the same, except there's an additional guitar at 54%L. Doesn't get much more spread out than that methinks. Thanks for the listen Chad

GuernicaNo offense taken by the QR reference. Was always a fan in high school! In fact I wrote the guitar and vocal for this about 9 years ago, just outa high school. It's loosely based on some crazy "friends" I made when I moved to Florida who were much older than me. Thanks as always Mike!

chrisharris I made this one blatantly clear just for you Chris. just kidding. That spoken vocal in the beginning is just my voice shifted down by about 4 semi-tones. Reminds me of the guy from "Silence of the Lambs" ("Put the fucking lotion in the basket!!!!")

Interesting tune man-Very dynamic-from loud distortion to acoustic--Excellent vocal work and placed just right in the mix-guitar tones are nice--drum programming is well done, sounds like they (or at least the snare) could come up a bit-thats about the only critique I can think of...Nice work!

Are the drum sounds that youre using on this, "stock" sounds on the triton, or are they aquired samples. .......T-day is getting close (Im so fuckin excited i cant stand it ) .....and I just wanna know if i should start looking around for drum sounds. .....or you could just send me all of yours in a neatly packed CD set .......while youre at it, if you could neatly jot down a detailed description of exactly how you recorded the last ....oh, say ....10 of your songs....... that would be nice too.

....seriously, are they stock? .......very very nice..... ...nicely executed too.

Dude. I finally got a computer at home, and this is the first song of yours I've heard besides our collab. That was sweet. It's about time somebody started writing good old fashioned ROMANTIC music. So refreshing. Seriously man this is pretty awesome stuff. In a disturbing, off-kilter sort of "molest-ishy" way that is. I'm going to go listen to more now.

Awesome. Simply awesome. I don't normally go for music like this, but the tune hooked me. It's dark and haunting. Reminds me of Ramstein. Your in good company.

The synth sounds great in the background. Bass playing is great and overall mix was pro quality. Even in lo-fi listening mode.

i'm not crazy about the bass sound on the clean parts, though......a little 'farty' for lack of a better word, but that would be nitpicking........it sounds fine, just more of a subjective tone opinion

You sir, are awesome! You're one of the only guys here ( Sam's the other) that actually have an identifiable style. And that's very difficult to do....my hat's off to you.

This is another one of your great tunes. The vox does seem a bit thinner than what I've heard from you before but I'm not sure that's bad. It's clearer and easier to understand so I guess it's up to what you want. The chord structure and the changes are something that I recognize as yous as soon as I hear it and I repeat; that's a very cool thing. I'm gonna have to put together a SLuiCe album now that you've got so many tunes up.
