I'm having particular trouble with an old mix.
Everything sounds fine in wave form but when I crush it to MP3 & play it on a portable MP3 player it distorts like hissy mush in the latter 3rd.
I pulled up the wave file in a wave editor & discovered the unusual curve you can see in the insert.
I remixed to reduce vol at that end, I ran a prog to remove DC offset still nothing really helps.
Any ideas?

I've actually had that happen right at the start of a few tunes...they come in with a huge pop and hiss. Never later on. I'd try and re-convert, and see if that is where it started. That's where mine got messed up...during a mixdown. I couldn't fix it, but it was right at the start, so I was able to silence it.
