ok so im slowly gonna start a recording area for my band...but hoenstly i dont even know where to begin...

i know i should start by getting a computer (planning on having the parents buy me a g4 :-D ) and a mixer (getting a mackie 12 channel...just to start with)

from there i assume i need to get a nice sound card for the computer...so i looked at a steinberg nuendo 96/52 DSP....

if im wrong with those please tell me so i dont waste any money...but other than that could you please say what else i need? maybe some tips on how to set it up?

thanks

Fast Puter ? Yes
Mixer...Maybe...depends...but are nice to have anyway.

Im pretty sure this is a runoff of the RME Digi9652 cards and are great but the NU9652 is ADAT, Digital and work clock...no analog. So if you intend to do ADAT transfers and Spdif thats fine. If not,
I would do some research on the cards that are available, which are many, and look for cards with analog ins and outs.
Try www.m-audio.com

heh thanks,

if i knew what you were saying...:/ sorry i should probly read up more on this b4 i go asking questions

This is the place to learn these things. Just ask em one at a time.;)

Here's the deal on cards.
PCI cards that fit in a PCI slot of your PC. Some cards have breakout boxes that can hook up to the card or use a USB port or firewire. Some cards can have ins and outs right on the card. Like this one.

Or up to 10 ins and outs like this one

Or others in between with 4 and 6 and 8
The cards above have 1/4 analog ins and outs.
Analog Im assuming is what you will be doing.
Other cards are a combination of both analog and digital like this
http://www.rme-audio.de/english/hdsp/multifa.htm

Other are strickly limited to ADAT and digital like this
http://www.rme-audio.de/english/hdsp/digifa.htm

The Delta series are great cards that are affordable.
I would look into the Delta Audiophile, Delta 44 and 66 or 1010
This will really depend on your preferences. And if you get a mixer.
