Hi everybody i'm new here and i'm new in home recording! I need just an information to start,
I'm going to buy the Focusrite scarlett studio bundle, which contains:
-scarlette 2i2
- mic condenser cm 25
- headphone

my only question is about the quality of the mic, i've only read good review, but i would like to ask to you if there is anyone that know something specifically, here the specifics:

Frequency Response 20Hz - 20kHz +/- 0.1 dB
THD+N < 0.002% (minimum gain, -1dBFS input with 22Hz/22kHz bandpass filter)
Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) < -120dB: measured at 55dB of gain with 150Ω termination (20Hz/22kHz bandpass filter)
Gain Range +10dB to +55dB
Max Input Level -3dBu

My wife bought me that bundle for Xmas.
I'd only recently bought an Audio Technica AT2020 and, interestingly, the Focusrite, SDC is a bit better than the AT MDC.
JUST make sure you USB port can supply the necessary 48v for the phnatom power the mic requires.
the Whole unit is powered by USB so you need to know that in advance.

ok , i'll check the USB port, but it think the 48v will be supported, i have a macbook 13 so i guess is good enough...
many thanks for the answer, the comparison between the two that you said was exactly my doubt.
I think finally i'll buy the bundle, thank you again!

Small correction on Ray's good advice.... The USB port doesn't supply 48volts, it only supplies 5vdc. Inside the Focusrite (or any other phantom power capable interface) is a dc-dc converter which will provide the 48volts. The USB port needs to be capable of supplying 500 milliamps at 5 volts. Most computers can do this, however, there were some models of Apple laptops that didn't. I don't remember which particular Mac didn't provide enough power, but maybe a simple google search will help.

YMMV.

That specification is for the 2i2's pre -amp not the mic G'. No matter, there are no truly "bad" capacitor mics about AFAIK. Your room and musical ability will be a much bigger factor at this stage.

I am known here about not to be a fan of the 2i2 but if you don't need a MIDI interface, you'll be right!

Hi Dreverb, i'm not habit at this time with plug- in and something like this.
Can you explain me what's the use of this? :)
