Hi all,

you can download the first single of my band on www.madralyss.be (you'll see the download link immediately). It's a kind of alternative/stoner rock song.

grtz

The guitar tone is not my thing, but it does seem to work ok for this track.
Your drums lack punch. The high stuff cuts through well but the snare and kick are too soft. The guitar are by far the loudest source in the track, I'd turn them down a bit.

Don't know about your bassplayer but I don't really hear him play at all. Don't know if that's a mix thing or if he's just playing the root notes of every chord.

On the song itself: the guitars really made me fall asleep after a while. It doesn't really sound like a good song to me. Just a song. I can hear that you probably worked on it for a pretty while but it still has a very low "wow" factor to me. Others might completely dissagree though.

Agree with Halion on the drums...they seem to sit pretty far back in the mix, especially the kick and snare. Bass seems to have a nice smooth tone, but to the point of trasparency. That may be what you were going for on this tune, I'm not sure.
I dig the guitar riff, but it does get a little redundant. I'm hearing the guit tracks wanting some flange or maybe phase just in select areas...maybe during the verses. I think it would suit the mood and feel of the tune well. That is subjective, so take it as an opinion.
Seems to be close on the mix, just needs some refinement on the levels, possible frequency adjustments.

I agree a bit, but the drums lost lots of power during the mastering. The overall mix had a good balance, but was a bit too boomy. The mastering, that boosted the highs, made the hi-hat more present, and kinda cut away the power of the kick and snare.

The rest is rather subjective. Fact is: in our band we work with riffs, not with 'normal' chord structures. For some this means lots of energy and an attitude, others don't dig it and find it a bit dull, like Halion for example.

I still like the song, and our debut Cd, and we have some killer gigs and a small but very dedicated audience; I'm pretty glad everywhere we play we have strong reactions: ppl hate u or ppl adore us.

Btw, geet, you ar entitled to your opinion and no problem that you dislike it. A bit of an explanation would be nice though.

he bert,

Hi-hat 2 loud IMHO
The guitar sounds dull, it sounds like it is 2 off axis

Song itself is ok
