I need a firewire adapter/card for my laptop, i have a firepod, wat is a great sounding one? wats the difference between 64 bit,32 bit,24 bit? please answer.......
does your laptop have a firewire port already? If not you'll need to get a card. Go to futureshop or bestbuy or whatever...they should have one and they're all pretty much the same. Presonus will have a compatablity sheet or something on their site. Make sure the one you get is on that list.
just as clarification, the firewire port that your firepod hooks up to in your computer is not a soundcard, rather, the firewire port is just a place to plug things in to your computer, like a USB port. The sound card, or interface, is actually your firepod.
Check with presonus and see what they reccomend. I know for a fact the Yamaha hardware and Digi hardware has very specific requirements. I also know for a fact that Adaptec Firewire is on everyones "OK to use" list so go with that if you can find it

a firewire adapter is just something that gives your computer firewire ports.
A firewire soundcard, such as a firepod, is simply an audio interface that plugs into the firewire port in a computer. If you choose an audio interface that plugs into a firewire port, you will need firewire ports on your computer.
