I jsut got one of these (along with a little "Bronco" version) from my GFs bro, who had it in storage in a garage, but still outside for a number of years. I can't wait to check out the new tone with tubes, but I need some help.

PLease chime in with your opiinions of this amp in general, preferrably from those who have real experience with one

Also, since it is a bit dusty and untouched for a long time, other than giving everyhtring a good wipe down, is there any thign i shoud do to test or care for the tubes/electronics before powering this thing up?

Anyone know of any resources for mods that might be (someday) made like the ones i have seen for the blues JR?

The first thought that comes to mind is the tube sockets might be corroded.
You could pop the tubes out and clean them with some tuner cleaner(radio shack). I like to saturate a pipe cleaner for this, but some folks just spray the tube pins and insert the tube a few times. Hope the transformers aren't rusty, if so don't try to clean them, You'll just "push" the rust further into the plates. Other than that, I guess power it up and leave it on standby for a while. You'll probably get a little whiff of electrical smell as it gets hot and burns the dust and what not off. Watch for smoke .....Good luck!

Thanks, i hadn;t seen this before i got home from work yesterday, so i just wiped down the outside, and looked inside, and there was very little dust, no animal nests or anything, so i just gave everyhting a good dusting, plugged it in and left on standby for a few minutes while i tuned up.
Switched it on and it sounded fantastic. The overdrive is way too much for apartment living, and now i am that much more motivated to try to buy a house to have a place to play thishting at proper volume.

In the meantime I may be starting a new project to build an isolation cabinet to start recording htis thing while not driving away my girlfriend and having my nieghbors hate me too much.
