i have an intro track which is just subtle organ b3 kind of stuff and i want this to fade away as the next song enters. i could just keep both pieces to one track but i want them to be seperate songs on the album we are making (organ intro on track one, song on traack 2)

how do i accomplish this making sure there is no pause between each track. i know this is a common practice in mastering CDs but i have no idea where to start

much appreciated

A program such as Sony CD Architect will allow you to do cross-fades from track to track.

I don't have Sony CD architect, but if I had to do it with what I've got (Nero and Audition) I'd try a zero-second break between the two songs on the CD, and have the first song end at the sample just before the overlap starts, and I'd start the second song at the sample where the overlap starts. That would require cutting the B3 part into pre-overlap and overlap parts. The big question I've got about trying that route would be whether either Nero or Audition can burn a CD with different settings for the 'boundary' between different songs - can I have no gap between Tracks 1 and 2, for instance, and then a 1.5 second between all subsequent tracks?
