Sister Blue :)

Heh... must be a wavelenght thing... the next hard rocker I put up has (will have) a lot of backwards stuff... :) Convinced many of us gotta be on a similar wavelength.

Very cool composition... the multiple voices remind me of Midnight Oil... (they always do).,.. or are those just voices in my head

Sister Blue seems very well written... reminds me of that Beck song from Midnight Vultures... the one that goes "...gonna miss that traaaaain... hey hey heeeyyyy... bah bah baaaaahh..." (whatever one that is)

Mixwise, something is off... maybe the vocals have too much proximity on 'em? Something like that... would like more varied layers on them... or something... although the backward vox as backing vox is an awesome idea... I may have to steal it :)

Cool toonz

I concur with "parti-man". The song's cool and the backwards thing, well I love backwards guitars. I guess it's my love of Hendrix. How'd you do it, reel to reel?

But the mix is very muddy and the vocals are harsh sounding. I bet if you pulled a little 2.5k out of the vocals it would help. It's hard to be as specific about everything else 'cause the vocals insist on grabbing my attention as they make my ears bleed. :D Not that the vocals are bad mind you, just the EQing needs some change. Please keep working on this...I'd love to hear it with a cleaner mix.

Well, I did this mix immediately after recording the track, and my ears were shot, but I did a quick mix with it. I definitely need to do a few things before it's "done."

When I was mixing, the vox weren't standing out for me, which exaplins my overcompensation.

I'll keep working on it.

The backwards guitar was done by taking the almost finished mix, reversing it in Sound Forge, then recording a lead track over top of the backwards tune. I then reversed the lead guitar, and dropped it back into Vegas and mixed it there. One take, and I just played with the vloume, bringing it up and down to create "fills."
