Here's my biggest problem... I apologize if this has been posted before but i used the search button and it didnt give me the answers i was looking for lol... I was doing a live recording earlier and everytime the guitar did a little solo... the snare buzzed... and was just a big "shhh" noise and i recorded it... how do you eliminate that?

If it's on the recording, then there is not a lot you can do about it. It will be present on the drum track and on any other track where a mike was used (to a greater or lesser extent).

However, if it's any consolation, it is a live recording, and if it were a live performance, that snare rattle would also be there (unless you took steps at the time to remove it).

I've just finished doing a live recording where there was a quiet introduction by the guitar which also caused snare rattle. Each take we did the drummer would muffle the snares with his hand before he came in.

The last (and best) take we did he forgot, and I forgot, so there is snare rattle. We left it there . . . it is a legitimate performance noise.

That will help considerably if the snare is by itself on a track, but the rattle would appear in the overheads as well, and possibly other open mikes at the time.

I put a piece of folded paper between the bottom head and the snare wires. This will lose a good bit of snare attack, but hitting it a tad harder will give you the "snare" when you need it. In my opinion it's worth a go, and does get rid of the snare buzz. (probably not a good solution if your playing lighter, ghost note, type patterns)

nymorningstar and tddrummer offer good advice . . . but the horse has already bolted . . . i believe the recording has aleady been done, the drummer has gone, and wonderland is left with the woes.

Again, if it's already recorded and done, you have no choice but to gate the snare track. Be careful of your attack/release controls though because it can make the snare sound very un-natural if done poorly.
