I'm running 2 (as opposed to all 4) 6L6 Groove Tubes in my Fender "Evil" Twin 212... Late nineties model... The Cut back switch only cuts the amp back about 40% W-wise. Therefore, I believe, with only the two tubes in it now, it is only a 50 W amp, and when the cutback switch is on it is a 30W amp. Furthermore, I now run the speakers at 4ohms. I know I'm not supposed to run it at 16, and that I can run it at 8 but...ok this is probably a confusing post. If you have followed up until now here are my questions...

1. Priority: Trying to drive this amp as much as possible without making my ears bleed. I also use a Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster pedal when playing live for the bigger stuff.

2. Do EL84s drive easier than the 6L6s or is it vice versa?

3. Should I be running the speakers at 4 or 8 ohms with half of the power tubes out?

4. Should I have taken the two middle power tubes out? haha

5. How can I get the least volume difference from clean to (seymour duncan) drive live?

6. Can anyone just spot me some cash for a Top Hat Club Royale?

Thanks

You so bought the wrong amp. Just sell it.

people like to think that pulling out tubes will make it sound great at low volumes, but it doesn't, it just sounds worse, and if you do some research, you actually get more headroom before distortion. Just research it, I know it sounds wrong, but you do.
