King of Bling
Hi. I posted this song in my other thread, and I feel like an ass for starting a new thread, but I'm in a time crunch. If anybody wants to do drums for this, it would be GREATLY appreciated. It's a 5 minute waltz, lol.

It's 60 bmp, in 3/4 time.

My daughter's getting ready to go to college, and the original idea was to make one more CD called "Home" that is made up of pretty simple recordings. Now that the mixes are coming together, the producer (Jaimee) thinks some of the tracks need drums, which puts me in the assholishly selfish position of asking for tracks. I'm posting this on AA and RP, but those guys are all hacks.

Needs bass too. :D

I know this shouldn't matter, but do you care if they're done with samples? I'm a drummer by nature, but have mesh heads on my set right now. Here's a sample of sampled drums I've programmed, so you can know before hand whether or not I suck at it.

I'd have fun doing it, but let me know if you have someone else taking it so I don't spend too much time for nothing. I can put bass in there too. I have a real one.

Sounds pretty good. Do they track like "real" drums? I mean, would you have a kick track, and a snare track, and one for each tom, etc.? Can you do different velocities and stuff?

Odd questions coming from somebody who is begging for tracks, I know, LOL. I'm just used to mixing a kit a certain way, and I'm a slow freaking learner.

I should say first...thanks. Second...I've had a couple of bites, but I haven't landed a drummer yet for any of the tunes. NL5 has sort of hinted that he might be able to do drums and bass, which would kick ass since stuff usually locks in better that way. I hate asking for tracks like this, because what can happen is 2 or 3 people end up doing tracks, and I only use 1 and invariably hurt feelings. I just ran out of time.

How about this...hold off for now until I see if NL is gonna' come through. Programming seems like a lot of work...it is when I do it anyway, and I do it horribly, so I can't imagine the time investment it takes to do it as well as you have.

I'll post back, and I appreciate the offer.

Oh, I think I'm still looking for bass/drums for the other tune:

:D

yeah, I send the drums out to my software in separate tracks so I can mix them like real drums.

And programming them doesn't take too long, because I just play it out on the keyboard then go back and do the fills. Let me know if NL5 comes through, but I'll be happy to do it. The practice is always good.

And I'm in no rush, my daughter doesn't leave for college for another 16 years.

nevermind, I found it. you forgot to put the MP3 in there.

Ah yeah, cool. You're smarter than I am, but that's not saying a ton, lol.

Man, if you want, feel free to take a crack at it. Both songs get a little dodgy in terms of strictly sticking to the metronome. I blame my bad genes for her bad timing. :D

The golden apples song is 89 bpm. The Landmines song is 60.

Hell, while I'm at it. Here's another one that has nothing but a tambourine for timing at present.

I'VE GOT A MILLION OF 'EM!!! :D

hey,

i went ahead and recorded drums for this. i did it in one take and just played along with the song.

anyways, here is the link.

Holy Hell. dude...you are so hired, LOL. THANK YOU.

Man, I was wondering...and I freaking HATE to ask (and I will absolutely love to get those tracks from you "as is,") but could I post a new file that doesn't fade so that you can play it all the way out?

My daughter's words were "awesome...perfect..."

Can you do about 7 more songs that fast? :D I can send you a Jamfest T-Shirt.

Seriously man, that was really cool of you...the kit sounds huge and fantastic. I'd love to get the separate tracks from you, but if that's too big a pain in the ass, I'll take a stereo file. Whatever man, just thanks.

I added a super simple bass line, anything I try and do more just sounds overdone. If it's enough I can finish the whole song. Or, you can tell me I suck, because I do.....

SOLD!!!!

Dude, you really probably cannot understand how grateful I am for that...and for the other 7 songs you're going to track bass for. :D

Ok, I just uploaded a new mix (same link as above...different mix)...Nothing that should effect either of you in terms of timing, it's just the full mix that doesn't fade out.

That bass sound sweet and perfect. If it's not too much trouble, could you play through the updated file?

Man, it's starting to sound like an actual song...I'm stoked.

If you need any other drumming I can help you too. Just let me know.

Much thanks. Stay tuned. I'm gonna' try to do a couple of quick mixes - if you hear anything you don't hate, we'll take whatever...with gratitude.

Drumming

Sure, I'll do whatever you need....no problem at all. I can definitely give you a stereo file, sending an mp3 of each track might be a bit much, because I run 10 mics for the drums. If you can do with the stereo file, I'll make sure that what I send you will mix well with the rest of the song.

I'll gladly drum for the other tracks. Just post them however you want and I'll record the drums. I should be able to do it all by tomorrow evening.

oh, and I wear a size Large. :)

I actually have a lot of fun doing this, so I'm glad you liked what I did.

Hey Chris, I didn't chime in with an offer because you seem to have recieved great help here. But 7 tunes is alot, so if you want to shoot one or two my way, I'll be glad to lay something down. I just might not be as quick as everyone else because I promised a couple of people some tracks.

F'ing Awesome. You seemed to get the dynamic nature of the tune...what I want to do if you can track to the full song without the fade is throw some ridiculously overgained guitars on the end, so don't be shy. :D I'm a control freak, but I liked what you did a ton, so a stereo file will be great.

Ok, since i"m being a whore, here's another tune. RAMI - Since you stepped into the crosshairs, :D if you'd be so kind as to take a swing at this, I know you'll be awesome. It's another kinda' long, slow...weird one, actually. I don't know if you're familiar with Damien Rice, but that's what this song reminds me of.

- BPM is 85; I tracked it to a click at 170.

I don't have a clue what it needs...maybe a new producer, lol.

Here are a couple that don't need drums, but could probably use percussion if anybody's game. Hell, drums might be cool...I don't know.

- BPM is 76...152 makes it easy
- BPM is 170.01...I don't know why, but that "0.1" makes a difference after awhile. Actually, the true BPM is probably half of that... I don't know how that works, lol.

And I'm still looking for a drummer for this one:
- BPM 89

You guys have been spectacular. If anybody wants to do one, maybe post here and let me know so that I don't keep asking for tracks and pissing people off who have volunteered to do some of this.

I'm gonna' post some more of the tracks before I hit the rack. Thanks again.

Here is Golden Apples with drums.

How do you want these stereo files? Do you want them with reverb?

these are links to just the drum tracks with and without reverb.

http://www.box.net/shared/0y8tdpe88c (with reverb)

I'll do some more tomorrow once you post them up, as well as the Landmines one over again.

Thanks man... I grabbed both tracks. I can't listen until tomorrow due to the fact that I seem to have broken my monitor amp. Cool. Again, I really appreciate it.

Link updated. I need to fix a couple spots, then I'll send you just the bass track. I extended the ending to match the extended version.

edit - oh, and if you don't mind my crappy bass playing, I can do other songs, I just need the structure and chord progressions if you can. I can figure them out, but that will take me a bunch of time - I'm not too "musical"..........
